At Commonspace Collective, we bring the coolest local experiences to life in a way that inspires community connection and creates memorable, shareable moments of WOW for our clients across the city.  

Our local collective of event partners spans creative industries - from mixology to street art to astrology, fitness, skincare and beyond - and our clients include luxury residential management companies like One Chicago and One Bennett Park, corporate teams like Instagram and Lincoln Properties and individual private event clients who are looking to bring their personal celebrations to life in their own commonspace or in our new beautiful Commonspace Studio (coming soon!)!  

We are looking for a highly experienced Event Manager to join our growing  team and help us in our mission to create WOW for our clients! The Event Manager will own event logistics and execution across a wide variety of event types and themes, manage a team of interns, contractors and vendors, support the event sales process,  and assist in the opening of our new studio venue space. The ideal candidate will have 3 - 5  years of professional event management experience. 

We have big plans for this business and we’re looking for an enthusiastic leader to join us on this adventure & grow with us! 

A DAY IN THE LIFE:

  • Event Conception & Marketing: 

    • Collaborate with co-founders to develop seasonal event menus and concepts 

    • Support the sales process by drafting eye catching, creative event proposals and sales emails 

  • Event Logistics & Execution 

    • Own the planning and logistics for workshops, pop-ups and keystone events

    • Source, secure and manage vendor partners for events 

    • Source event decor with an eye for elevated aesthetics and style 

    • Lead interns and personally assist in all event prep at the Commonspace Studio - preparing event materials, packaging takeaway kits, inflating balloons and building balloon garland, preparing signage, organizing event materials, etc. 

    • Drive to onsite events and manage event load in and load out along with onsite team

    • Provide day-of onsite event management for Commonspace Collective events at various client locations in Chicago (load event materials in and out of the event, setup decor per event theme, greet guests, manage vendors and onsite team, communicate with on-site clients, photograph event). You act as the face of the brand to our clients onsite and create an exceptional client and attendee event experience. 

  • People Management:

    • Manage onsite event teams and vendors pre, during and post event 

    • Support cofounders with intern and contract management and scheduling 

  • Studio Management: 

    • Support In-Studio Event Rental Sales 

    • Manage Logistics and Event Prep of In-Studio Events 

    • Onsite support for In-Studio Event Rentals 

  • Social Media Marketing: 

    • Support overall social media strategy by providing onsite social media coverage of events on Instagram that follows brand standards and highlights our work in an exciting, captivating way 

  • Partnerships: 

    • Support local partnership efforts by researching and building relationships with  local creators and businesses that we can partner with to bring WOW to clients

  • Intuitively know the importance of relationships for small businesses, reflecting relational and emotional intelligence and handling even the smallest details with care

  • A strong team player with a positive and professional attitude

  • Strong logistics and operations skills 

  • Obsessed with good design and has an intuitive eye for event design, space planning, event styling, current aesthetics and trends 

  • Deep passion for Chicago with a finger on the pulse of its small business and cultural community 

  • Proven experience and creativity in using social media platforms including LinkedIn, Instagram, Facebook & TikTok as a marketing tool to drive followers and sales 

  • Agile problem-solver with strong ability to to think on their feet and remain calm under pressure

  • Self-starter with an entrepreneurial mentality; able to take ownership of projects and see them through from inception to production

  • Ability to multi-task and switch between different projects and  priorities seamlessly

REQUIREMENTS: 

  • 3 -5 years event management  experience

  • Access to a working computer and phone with internet access required 

  • Strong experience with Google Suite (Gmail, Google Drive, etc.) 

  • Ability to lift to 30 lbs. unaided, if needed

  • Flexible schedule with the ability to work evenings and weekends 

  • Ability to work in a hybrid work environment - remotely, in-studio and on-site for events 

  • US Driver's License with ability to drive cargo van

  • Has access to a car or SUV (not 100% necessary but very helpful)

  • Willingness to become a Certified Bartender (we cover the training) 

SALARY & BENEFITS: 

  • Competitive Pay ($40,000 - 50,000)
